Tanya McBride

Tanya McBride has worked in the behavioral health field for more than 21 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in History and English and later attended the University of New Mexico School of Law for two years. After further exploring her professional goals and personal values, she returned to graduate school to earn a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University in 2005. Tanya is independently licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and is also a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC). Throughout her career, she has worked in a wide range of clinical and leadership settings, including outpatient counseling, inpatient psychiatric care, case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, clinical supervision, and program development. Her areas of interest include substance use and recovery, body image, health and wellness, workplace dynamics, aging, anxiety, fear, personal empowerment, authenticity, and navigating periods of growth and change.

Tanya is particularly passionate about helping individuals identify and overcome barriers that prevent them from living meaningful, engaged, and fulfilling lives. Tanya uses an individualized and integrative approach to counseling, drawing from person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based practices, expressive arts, movement, and other creative and experiential interventions. She believes that treatment should be responsive to each person’s unique circumstances, strengths, values, and goals. A lifelong learner and international traveler, Tanya is also a certified yoga teacher who completed her training in India and a trained death doula through the University of Vermont. She has called New Mexico home for most of her life and brings warmth, curiosity, resilience, and a deep respect for the human experience to her work.
