Our Mission
At A Path With Heart, we help our clients to improve their health, happiness, and quality of life. We inspire our clients to grow towards their highest potential in all life arenas. In the process, we create a healing environment that is fun, fulfilling, and enriching for everyone on our team.
Our Core Values
Caring: Our practice is rooted in a profound dedication to heart-felt service. We approach every client with appreciation and respect, offering consistent support and inspired encouragement necessary to promote growth and change.
Connection: We establish a safe, authentic, and therapeutic bond with those we serve. This meaningful connection allows for real courageous conversations that lead to true healing.
Competence: We leverage our professional experience, specialized skills, and therapeutic wisdom to help clients thrive and realize their full potential in all areas of life.
Congruence: We bring genuine honesty and transparency to our therapeutic work. We believe in leading by example, ensuring that our own daily lives and professional practices mirror the values we instill in ourselves and others.
Our Healthcare Philosophy
The Heart of Service
At our practice, we believe that holding a deep attitude of service matters more than simply being an expert. Expertise is necessary, but true healing requires genuine human connection.
Our practice is named A Path With Heart because the way we treat people shapes their lives, their families, and our broader community. Patients come to us looking to build resilience, learn new skills, and improve their quality of life.
While clinical interventions matter, they only work if you feel deeply cared for. Research consistently shows that the strength of the therapeutic relationship is the second most important factor in positive change. The first is the client’s willingness to grow and change.
Remembering Our Purpose
It is easy for healthcare providers to lose their way, letting high demand replace humility. We resist that trap. We view every session as a sacred opportunity to connect with another soul and awaken the immense potential lying dormant within each person.
The word Psyche comes from the ancient Greek word for the soul. Unlike traditional medical models, we look deeper than a patient’s symptoms to see the whole person. We connect with patients beyond their problems and help them focus on solutions and transcending their problems.
How We Respect and Care for Our Patients
Taking the first step to see a therapist requires immense courage. Many people arrive feeling anxious, unheard, or apprehensive. To honor patients from the very first moment, we practice a collaborative approach:
Client Centered: We begin patients’ first session by asking what questions they have for us, before we ask any of them.
Building Trust: We strive to answer the two core questions every client holds: Can I trust you? and Can you help me?
Shared Agency: This initial conversation establishes that the patients we serve are an equal partner in their own growth and change. Once patients feel safe and understood, a true therapeutic bond is formed. In time, our role shifts from active facilitators to supportive witnesses of our patient’s personal transformations.
Moving From Insight to Action
Awareness alone cannot create a better life; lasting change requires consistent practice. We are creatures of habit, and true inspiration usually follows a shift in behavior, rather than the other way around.
The 105-Hour Reality: Patient’s usually only spend one hour a week in therapy. The remaining 105 waking hours are where real change happens.
The Role of Homework: We utilize active homework to bridge the gap between breakthrough moments in the office and daily life outside.
Overcoming Fear: Insight without action is just a daydream. When we pair self-awareness with real-world accountability and positive inspired action, fear loses its power over us.
Our Culture: What do we Believe and What do we Cultivate?
We believe in only hiring professionals who are healthy, caring, and competent. This helps us to maintain a healthy environment with high standards, while avoiding unnecessary drama and micromanagement. We are discerning with the people we invite into our culture.
We believe in having independence and autonomy over our own schedules. We have the freedom to decide when we work, how much we work, with whom we work and how we work.
We believe a collaborative and supportive team of professionals is better than a hierarchical top-down system of supervisors and subordinates.
We believe in direct communication and transparency. We are brave enough to have the conversation.
We believe in spending 10% of our time complaining about the problem, and 90% of our time working towards collaborative solutions. Issues are going to arise. We approach issues with a positive, collaborative, and solution-focused mindset. Resolving issues and problems collaboratively and transparently is how we grow as professionals and as an organization.
We believe in maintaining a chill and positive environment to work in. We believe working at A Path With Heart should feel fulfilling, enriching and fun. If it doesn’t, we work together to make it so.
We believe leadership is an opportunity for service that is based in “power-with,” not an opportunity for authority that is based in “power-over.”
We believe in being super ethical and making sure we go home each day with our integrity intact.
We believe we are a health care service first and foremost and a health care business second. Our North Star is caring for and inspiring people. While remaining economically viable is necessary, our most important bottom line is how well we take care of our clients, ourselves and each other.
We believe in being congruent. We do our best to attend to our own health, happiness and well-being at least as much as we attend to the health, happiness and wellbeing of the clients we serve.
We believe that tending to people is more important than tending to profits. We pay our professionals as much as possible, whilst maintaining the financial health and stability of the practice. Pay is weekly, whether the practice is paid or not, and we offer opportunities for significant monthly bonuses for our professionals who choose to work with at least 26 clients per week.
We believe in equitable compensation. Every clinical therapist on staff, including the owner of the practice, is paid the same amount per client and has the same bonus structure.
We believe in creating a nurturing, comfortable and inspiring healing space for ourselves and our clients.
We believe that the only mistakes are the mistakes we don’t learn from.
