Kate Godsey
Kate Godsey obtained her B.S. in psychology {physiology emphasis} from Colorado State University. She obtained her M.S. from San Francisco State University in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1992. She has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California since 1995 and in New Mexico since 2020. Kate has over 30 years of experience in behavioral health. She has worked as a therapist, supervisor and Clinical Director in settings as varied as: criminal justice, substance abuse programs, private practice, universities, acute in patient psychiatry and community outpatient clinics, Kate’s years of experience have afforded her training and expertise in several methods of psychotherapy. Kate is a skilled clinician in the practice of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based practices, Humanistic/Existential psychotherapy, Cognitiv Behavioral Treatment, substance abuse treatment, Buddhist psychology, Family Systems Therapy and psychodynamic psychology. Kate often integrates elements of these different models according to the needs of her clients.
Kate’s work is also influenced by her background in physiology, movement/dance, breath work, meditation, music, and creative arts—she supports clients in connecting and expanded sense of Self. ‘Self’, with a capital ’S’ is an open-hearted, wise, clear-minded, inner experience of our essential humanity. Kate supports clients in learning to access this inner safety as a powerful ally in working with our greatest challenges. Kate is an experienced provider with many areas of treatment focus.
